John A. Benson
Chairman
Industry experience: 43 Years
With firm: 35 Years |
As a founder and the Chairman
of Investment Trust Company,
John sets the standard of service for which the firm is known. His drive
for excellence and adherence to a client first philosophy is reflected in
the firm’s long standing relationships with families, individuals and
select Institutions throughout the region. John entered the investment
management industry in 1967 with Harris, Upham and Company. In 1975, he
joined First Trust Corporation as Senior Vice President and Portfolio
Manager. Eight years later, along with Mr. Zellmer, he co-founded Nelson,
Benson and Zellmer, Inc., a Colorado-based money management firm in which
he remains a principal. He graduated from the University of Kansas and
holds a Masters of Business Administration from the University of
Colorado. |

Thomas L. Herrington, CFA
President
Industry experience: 25 Years
With firm: 17 Years |
Tom was named President and
Chief Executive Officer of Investment Trust Company in 1999. In this
capacity, he is responsible for the overall management of the firm
in addition to his portfolio management responsibilities. He began
his career with the Colorado National Bank of Denver and shortly
thereafter relocated to New York City where he joined the Investment
Management Division of the Chase Manhattan Bank. During his tenure
with Chase, he held management positions in finance, marketing and
portfolio management, including Senior Portfolio Manager within the
U.S. Private Banking Group. In 1988, Tom joined Prudential Securities
Investment Management in New York as Vice President and Senior Portfolio
Manager. At Prudential, he served as a member of the Investment Policy
Committee and National Product Manager for the firm’s Managed Account
Program. Tom is a principal of Nelson, Benson & Zellmer and a 1985
graduate of Dartmouth College. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst and
member of the Denver Society of Security Analysts. |

Wallace A. Zellmer
Chief
Investment Officer
Industry experience: 47 Years
With firm: 32 Years |
In his role as Chief Investment Officer, Wally oversees the portfolio
management activities of the organization. He began his career on Wall
Street in 1963 where he served as assistant to the Chief Economist of J.P.
Morgan and Senior Security Analyst and Portfolio Manager for a leading
mutual fund complex. In 1971, he and his family moved to Colorado where he
accepted the position of Senior Portfolio Manager for United Bank of
Denver. After joining Mr. Benson at First Trust Corporation in 1978, he
co-founded Nelson, Benson & Zellmer Inc. in 1983 and remains a
principal of the firm. Through the years, Wally has managed investment
portfolios for some of the region’s largest foundations, pension plans and
families and he brings that experience and expertise to all of the firm’s
clients. He is a graduate of Bradley University and is past President of
the Denver Society of Security Analysts. |

Hal R. Wofford
Executive Vice President
Director of Trust
Administration
Industry experience: 41 Years
With firm: 12 Years |
Hal joined Investment Trust Company in 1998, as Director of Trust
Administration, and brings to the organization over thirty years of
experience in the personal trust and estate arena. Prior to joining the
firm, Hal held the position of Head of Personal Trust Administration for
Wells Fargo Bank of Colorado (previously First Interstate Bank of
Colorado). In this position, he directed and managed the administrative
functions of Colorado’s largest personal trust department with assets of
over $3 billion. Hal began his career with Bankers Trust Company in New
York, where he served as a Trust Officer for ten years before relocating
to Colorado with First National Bank of Denver. He holds a degree in
political science from the University of Nevada, and a Masters of Business
Administration from City College of New York. Over the years, Hal has
contributed to his industry by serving on both the Denver Estate Planning
Council and the Denver Trust Officer’s Association. |
